The vast majority of computer users out there use their systems primarily for entertainment purposes in addition to schooling and job related duties. Lsass stands for Local Security Authentication Server. It’s one of the more important services of the operating system. The duties of this particular service is to enhance policies that are security related within the OS, in addition to handling the authentication process when a user logs in, and the handling of password changes, and active directory management. 

Because the Lsass is primarily responsible for the security component of your operating system, hackers and virus makers like to target it, in order to gain access to your system. Thus, when you encounter this error, typically it will be due to a virus or malware.

The best solution to fixing this error is to run a full scan of your antivirus program. If you don’t have one on your system, then there are a number of them that you can find online, all of which are more than capable of finding and removing the virus causing the error. If there is already an antivirus program on your computer, then before you run the full virus scan, make sure its virus definitions are up-to-date.

Once you have the antivirus program on your system, the first thing you should do is boot into safe mode. This can be done by pressing the F8 key while the computer is booting up. If you press the button at the right time, then the boot choice screen should appear, from there, select boot into safe mode. After you’ve successfully booted into safe mode, run a full scan of the antivirus program.

After the scan has finished, restart your computer and boot into normal windows mode. Once the computer has booted up, make sure all windows updates are installed on your operating system. These updates are designed to enhance the security of your operating system against malware/virus attacks.

If after running the full virus scan, you’re still getting the same error message, then there is a good chance that the error is due to a corrupt or damaged configuration file within the windows registry. Using a registry cleaner is a quick and efficient way to repairing this problem.

Registry cleaner programs are small programs that are capable of scanning your entire registry and detecting any damaged or corrupt files within it. It will tend restore or fix these infected files.

There are many registry cleaner programs that you can find online, just be sure to choose an efficient one, that way you can be sure that it will locate the problem on your computer and repair it.

Once the registry clean has been completed, the error message should be a thing of the past. You should also notice a slight performance increase in addition to that, as this registry tools are designed to improve system performance in addition to cleaning the registry.
